EASE OF USE
Help your cat rediscover their inner tiger by leash training them for outdoor adventures you can both enjoy together. Cats are notoriously more difficult to train than dogs, mainly because they like being in charge. However, it’s not impossible to train them; you just have to be more patient.
If you’re in the market to buy a cat harness, then you’ve already made your decision to leash train your kitty. We’re here to help you find the right harness for the job. Here, we review the Escape-Proof Cat Harness from Pupteck to see if it can live up to its name.
Pupteck Escape-Proof Cat Harness
Pupteck manufactures a range of collars, harnesses, outfits, and more for cats and dogs. From socks to swimming pools to birthday hats, Pupteck has thought of it all and provide a wide range of fun and practical products for all your pet's needs.
Who Is This Product For?
This product is ideal for someone looking to leash train their cat (or small dog) and is worried that they might escape from the harness when they’re outside. The small size fits a chest girth from 10.5 inches, so it may not be suitable for kittens.
Although, users have commented that the harnesses do run a little on the small side. Hence, if your cat has a 10-inch chest, then it may be worth trying on for size! The large size accommodates up to a 16.1-inch chest, so it will fit most larger cats.
You will receive one cat harness in your choice of size and color. Also included is one leash that can be used with the harness to take your cat out for walks. The leash even matches the color and design of the harness.
Overview of the Features
This harness comes in a choice of 10 colors, and the matching leash that you get for free makes an adorably cute set. Choose from pink, polka dots, plaid, or black and white designs to suit your cat’s personality. We do wish that this harness had some reflective strips on it for safer walking at night, though.
Of course, what’s more important than the way it looks is your cat's comfort, and that hasn’t been overlooked here. The soft mesh fabric is cushioned around the sides and edges, and the mesh is breathable, keeping your kitty cool in the summer.
The design of the harness is an H-type, but it's different from the usual H-types that fasten over your cats back. This harness fastens at the chest and stomach areas—firstly with Velcro, and then with a buckle for extra safety. Pupteck also has a patent pending for this design, so it’s very unlikely you’ll see it anywhere else. We like the fact that you don’t have to put the harness over your cat's head, but we don’t see the benefit of the fastenings being underneath the cat instead of on the top where we feel they would be easier to get to.
You get a free 59-inch leash with the harness, which is a nice touch. The leash attaches to double D loops on the back of the harness for added security, which is also a definite plus. The harness is definitely harder to escape from than other harnesses we’ve seen, but if your cat is really determined, then they would be able to escape from this.
How to Get the Most out of It
The best way to get the most out of this product is to ensure that your cat loves their harness as much as you do. Once they get used to being in their harness and out on walks, their life will be so much richer than it ever could have been without. It’s really worthwhile doing some research and taking the time to harness and leash-train them properly.
We had a look at other escape-proof harnesses and found the Cat Harness and Leash Set from Scirokko. This harness has reflective strips sewn into the seams all over it, which is fantastic if you are walking your cat in the dark a lot. It’s made from nice soft, breathable fabric too, but you do have to slip the harness over your cats head to put it on.
Another downside is that this harness only comes in one size to fit a chest of 13 to 18 inches. If your cat fits the bill, then great. It has four fully adjustable straps so that you can customize it for a really secure fit, making it much harder to escape from.
Overall, we prefer the harness from Pupteck. It's really comfortable for your cat to wear and doesn’t seem to limit their range of movement at all. Most importantly, it is very difficult to escape from, especially if you don’t let your cat pull backward on the leash.
What’s more, the choice of colors and designs is really cute too, and you could even add your own reflective strips, sewing them onto the harness yourself if you need them.
